I had my laptop for about 18 months now. I noticed a month ago that the touchpad was kind of bulging, but I thought that it was just me. Now that I checked the casing, I noticed that the bottom lip of the back cover was slightly open (in the middle portion, just below the touchpad) and upon closer inspection, the touchpad is really bulging out and is getting really hard to use.
The laptop is working just fine but I am really concerned about the battery as I use this everyday. My warranty just expired last May but is there a special kind of warranty for batteries? I understand that replacement of the battery will be the go-to here but is there some way to help me replace my battery at a lower cost?
I appreciate your help on this. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
You should replace the battery as soon as possible to prevent further damage to the notebook.
The part number for the battery is L29184-005
You can try an online search with the part number to find a compatible battery or try neares HP service center
On page 31 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the battery

Hope it helps,

Hi@jemychua01,
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the replacement battery.
You may order the replacement parts on the HP Parts Store, use the HP Parts Surfer to find the part number and If you've already looked for it and couldn't find it on the HP Parts Store, you may want to get it locally at the online store such as Amazon or eBay, etc...as the part numbers are universal.
Alternatively, I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:
1) Click on this link.
2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Click on "Show Options". Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!
Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from, here's how private messages work: Click here for details.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
