Hello community, I have noticed my laptop's battery wear drop from a normal 5% wear down to 42% wear in just a couple of weeks. I bought this laptop new in February this year and have been careful not letting it discharge or charge too much.

I ran powercfg /batteryreport  on cmd prompt. The results were interesting. In the summary box at the top it confirms Full Charge capacity of 24.140mWh / 41.927 (in line with the 42% drop), but the Battery Capacity history below reports a latest full charge capacity as of today (October 8, 2020) of 39.767 mWh (around 5% drop).

I have re-installed the drivers and restarted my laptop but nothing's changed. Is this an issue with the system reading it incorrectly, or has the battery actually worn out all of a sudden?

Thanks!

Tom

Just a quick update, I have also run HP assistant and it's confirmed 57% of battery capacity left. Such a massive drop is REALLY strange considering the laptop is barely 10 months old and the wear was fine until a few days ago.

Hello The Fossette, Thank you so much for your reply. I spoke to HP customer support this week and they are going to pick up my laptop today as there might be an issue with the battery.

I can't try your solution as the laptop is ready to be picked up, but I really appreciate your help.

Thank you!
