Hi,

My laptop says 0% available (plugged in, not charging). I have tried leaving it off and charging, which doesn't work. I have tried turning the laptop on without the battery and then fitting the battery while the laptop is on to see if it charges. That doesn't work. I have tried reinstalling the drivers which also doesn't work.

I tried the HP Hardware Diognstics program and tested the battery. It failed the test and gave me this failure ID: 6APQ7T-7T6987-MFPWLK-C0AF13.

This was the details of the battery failure.

Test cannot execute. Required service status: INSTALLED

The key line I got from this was "Primary_TestresultString:BAD_CELL". Does this mean I have to replace the battery or is there something I can do to fix this without replacing the battery?

Thanks in advance.

I'm the Riddle_Decipher & I'm writing on behalf of my colleague @The_Fossette, as the tech is out for the day, that said, I have reviewed your concern and the entire conversation, did some research and here's what I recommend:

The bios update was our last resort and if that didn't work, and you've already performed the hardware test and it resulted with the failure ID – 6APQ7T-7T6987-MFPWLK-C0AF13,

Here's what the ID represents: 601

Battery 1

@dylanhughes15,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Awesome job on diagnosing the issue correctly and performing smart troubleshooting before posting your question on HP forums. Kudos to you on that score.

It looks like a hardware issue and you need to replace the battery on the computer. However, before replacing the battery I recommend you update the BIOS on the computer and check whether it helps.

You can download and install the latest BIOS for your computer from the below link.
