Hi,
Yesterday, I asked for help to update the BIOS of an old HP Pavilion dv9000 with an AMD processor.
I have another HP Pavilion dv9000 I'd like to update the BIOS too. Unfortunately, its processor is an Intel one, not an AMD.
Could you help me to download the good file for this one too ?
Notebook Model : HP Pavilion dv9000 (RP923EA#ABF)
System Board ID : 30BD
Processor Type : Intel Core 2 CPU T5500 1660MHz
BIOS Version : F.29
If somebody can help me, i would greatly appreciate it.
Best regards,
MLG1978

Hi, @MLG1978
Here are the links to the last BIOS update HP released for the dv9000 notebooks with Intel processors:
WinFlash for HP Notebook System BIOS (for Notebooks with Intel Processors) - Microsoft Windows Based
Version F.2E
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48121.html
BIOS update:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48121.exe
Like the AMD models, it is best to update the BIOS using a supported operating system, although there are some folks that have successfully updated the BIOS on the dv9000 Intel processors using W7 but if you can install Vista like you did on the dv9000 AMD notebook, why take the risk?

Hi Nathan,
Here is the error message :
[0.370767] ACPI BIOS Error (bug) : Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PCI0.OSC.Z012] , AE_NOT_FOUND (20220331/psargs-330)
[0.370908] ACPI Error : Aborting method \_SB.PCI0._OSC due to previous error (AE_NOT_FOUND) (20220331/psparse-529)
Unfortunately, the BIOS update didn't remove the error message but I'm happy to have done it.
I didn't have the time to look further but I wonder if the problem doesn't come from the GPU which could need to be reflowed. If you want, I'll give you a feedback of my attempts.

Hi according to this forum post on askubuntu.com
To get rid of these messages while booting, you can add loglevel=3 to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in etc/default/grub, so that it will look like this:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash loglevel=3"
then update grub using command: sudo update-grub
Note that, adding 'loglevel=3' simply disables the non-critical error but doesn't resolve it.
You can try this and check out the askubuntu forum for more help relating to linux as they are a more linux focused forum then we are.
If my response helped you, please let me know by marking my answer as the accepted solution. This will help others.
