Hi - I've had my laptop for one week and I'm not really happy with the keyboard.

Some of the keys seem to be printed not as brightly as the others (and they are not dirty) and the left and right arrow keys are really squeaky. I use keyboard shortcuts all the time and move around my documents using those and it's incredibly annoying.

Is this normal? Obviously I'm in warranty but I don't know whether to go back to the retailer and ask for a replacement or try something through HP. I'm in the UK.

Thanks - I will do that. So disappointing!

That doesn’t sound normal for a new laptop. If the keys look uneven and the arrow keys are squeaky, I’d go back to the retailer first since you’re still within the return period. If they don’t help, HP support should sort it under warranty.

Yeah that’s kind of what I was thinking too. A brand new keyboard shouldn’t have uneven printing or squeaky keys, and I’d rather swap the whole unit than have someone open it up this early. Since I’m still within the return window, going back to the retailer feels like the cleanest fix. If they push back, then I’ll fall back on HP warranty, but a straight replacement makes a lot more sense for a one-week-old device.
