I bought my 15-bs192od laptop last year on November 22nd and today, 1 week after the warranty expired, the left hinge broke. I've seen many complaints about the left hinge on various HP laptops. Are these really that weak? I think it is unacceptable for something to have such a high failure rate- especially just outside of warranty. I don't travel with my laptop, it has never been dropped. Just opened approximately every day. This is clearly a defect in quality. Is this something I can fix myself? Does HP ever offer goodwill warranty for problems like this just outside of the expiration?

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
