My laptop recently cracked on the outer shell close to the hinge and now the hinge seems to be broken and the laptop can’t open or close properly, it’s bulging when I try to close and it exposes the insides. It hasn’t fallen or been stepped on, it just happened out of no where. It happens to be out of warranty and when i contacted hp assistance I was informed that despite any kind of issue or the gravity it would cost $300-$400 to fix. I need a solution ASAP. Thank you in advance.

After many days of messaging they ended up not being helpful in the slightest. I was told that the warranty had started way before I even bought the laptop and the only way they would fix it was for between $300-$400.
