The latest version is already installed, as I said all drivers are up to date. With previous versions, gestures do not work so that driver must be used.  I have even updated the bios and tried all obvious things before making this thread. There is simply a bug in the touchpad driver or a compatibility issue with 1803 windows version, so a new driver with this issue fixed should be released, as it is a frustrating problem.

@spixel

Thank you for valuable feedback,

As if now there is no latest update than the one I have provided you. I cannot make any speculation about the next update, therefore we will have to wait until the next update is released (Either from Microsoft or HP). You will be notified about HP latest update from HP Support Assistant app.

I really appreciate your time and efforts,

If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out to us.

Is there no way to officialy report a driver bug, how are HP going to consider updating the driver if the issue is possibly unknown to them? It has been 9 months since last touchpad update and 3-4 months since 1803 windows release. I understand eventually software support for older devices will be discontinued but this is still a very modern laptop with i7 7500u so the touchpad should not be left with such bugs. I have many much older laptops without this issue in windows 1803 so it leaves a bad impression of HPs quality and interest in user experience.

I know with 100% certainty now that this is a driver bug . I was just using my mothers HP laptop which also happens to have an ELAN touchpad and it exibited the exact same fast scrolling issue in the same circumstances.

However this laptop had a touchpad driver update available dated Feb 2018 and this fixed the bug completely. Oddly though, this laptop is older + far inferior to my one  yet it has gotten the driver update many months ago? Strange.
