Hello. I have a HP Omen 15 laptop, I think dc0013-no (1070 max-q variant).
The main battery has been dead for a couple of years now. Stays at 0% and the pc won't work unless plugged in. Lately I've been having random shutdowns, where it takes several minutes until the laptop is bootable again. After reboot, the boot screen says that there's an invalid CMOS checksum, and the date and time gets messed up, leading me to believe it's a CMOS issue. Now, it seems that the motherboard doesn't have a typical CMOS coin battery, but it draws power from the main battery. The 'puter is 5 years old, so warranty is expired. The computer shuts down only during intense tasks like when playing games. The power cable is fine, the temperatures are also cool enough and I don't think the components are drawing too much power. The question is, why did it take ~2 years for the CMOS to get affected, and is there any fix, other than replacing the main battery? Replies much appreciated!

Most newer laptops use the main battery instead of the coin CMOS

Hey, I ordered a replacement battery and upon installing it nothing happened. The laptop still won't boot up regardless of being plugged in. Do you think the motherboard itself could be fried or what's up? Thanks
