unknown device and unknown driver listed in device manager; only info is seems to be USB driver issue!

Please try Installing the following driver and confirm. This is the Chipset driver- 

 

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55095.exe

 

Can you even try providing the PID and VID for the unknown device? Please follow the steps below to obtain that info - 

 

Click Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools.
In the right pane, double-click Computer Management.
In the left pane, select Device Manager.
In the right pane, search for the device you want to find the hardware ID.
Right-click on Device and select Properties.
In the Device Properties window, click the Details tab.
From the Property drop down list, select Hardware IDs. A VID and PID number displays in the format:
USB\VID_&PID_\

digital signer; not digitally signed

 

This all comes from USB wireless keyboard and mouse; latest drivers are there; will not recognize device;  have used keyboard and mouse for 2 yrs and just recently last few days incurred problem.

 

driver you listed already on system.  I'm lost.  🙂

Can we try this one more time with a few changes this time-

 

Click Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools.
In the right pane, double-click Computer Management.

In Device Manager please highlight the Unknown Device
Right-click on the Unknown Device and select Properties.
In the Device Properties window, click the Details tab on the top.
From the Property drop down list, select Hardware IDs. A VID and PID number displays in the format:
USB\VID_&PID_\

as stated before; results when I follow steps your are;
