HP Pavilion G6 1304sv
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, i have this laptop for a few years now..HP Pavilio G6 1304sv..and i would like to ask, if there is a possibility to be able to upgrade my CPU-Microprocessor to a better one. I haven't done much research about it, because i figured i could post a question here first. So if you have any suggestions for me (as to if it's even worth it at all !!), i would be very grateful to here about it. Thank you!

These are the top 3 processor options:

Intel® Core™ i7-2640M processor (2.8 GHz, SC turbo up to 3.50 GHz, 4 MB L3 cache), Dual 35 W

Intel Core i7-2620M processor (2.7 GHz, SC turbo up to 3.40 GHz, 4 MB L3 cache), Dual 35 W

Intel Core i5-2540M processor (2.6 GHz, SC turbo up to 3.3 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache), Dual 35 W

These will be a drop-in replacement for the existing i3. The Manual provides full instructions for replacement. Good luck

Theoretically yes, but most people underestimate the cost and difficulty. If you could do the work yourself it might make sense. However, most people cannot. You are likely asking because you think the laptop is "slow". The processor is not the only factor in how snappy the computer runs. Your i3 second generation processor is not a bad processor, so you will get more benefit out of installing a solid state drive and also increasing the memory to 8 gigs. These are things an end user can do and the cost of these components will be less than it would cost to have a shop upgrade the processor to an i5 or i7. And, the SSD and RAM upgrade will be more effective.

Post back if you need more help.

Thanks for your quick reply! Yes, the idea is to install the CPU myself, someway. I can figure it out. The cost is something i need to consider ofc, but the question was asked for me to see my options. I have already an SSD on my laptop, but yes i need to (and i have it in my plans to do) upgrade the RAM. But in the end, i just wanted to explore my options, as to

1) if i can upgrade (not just theoretically)

2) what upgrade options do i have (as in what CPUs my motherboard supports)

If you have any suggestions about it, thats all i wanted to know..thanks !
