CPU Upgrade_Notebook HP Pavilion g6-1273sl

Hello, I would like to upgrade the CPU. The manual shows the processors you can install but relate to the date on which the manual was written.

My Socket is G2 rPGA988B.

Now I see here http://www.cpu-world.com/cgi-bin/CPU_Chart.pl (filtering results) that there are many quad core cpus available to this socket.

Can I install these CPUS on my notebook?

Now I have an Intel i5 2430M. I would like to install a i7 quad core.

It's not just the socket although that is part of the picture. The laptop motherboard has to support the processor you want to install. I many cases, for computers of that vintage there was a motherboard for Quad Cores and another for dual cores and then maybe another one for Celeron and Pentium models. I will keep looking for your Service Manual so we can figure out whether your motherboard can take an i7 Quad.

It shows compatible CPUs but it stops at the time it was written. It supports quads

I see no Quads listed. i7-2620M is a Dual. The laptop only supports hardware that was available at the time. You can try the Quad Core but if it works it is going to be a miracle.

There are a lot of Quad. Order list column by cores.

 Socket is the same. Techonlogy is 32mn or 22mn that is better. TDP is 35W and I know problems related to more powerful Cpus. I think that also codename Sandy Bridge, my processor, can be upgraded to a cpu named Ivy Bridge, newer processor.
