Product: HpElitebook 840G1
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I have an hp Elitebook 480 G1 with an i5 4600U and I'm wondering if I can upgrade the CPU to an i7. I looked up on a website and they said the laptop is compatible with an i7 4600U, but never specifies if I can physically change the CPU.

Hi:
The CPUs are part of the motherboard and in order to upgrade the processor, the motherboard has to be changed for one with the better processor.

Check chapter 6 of the service manual I linked above.
There is no procedure to replace the processor.

You cánt change CPU, you have to buy the whole maotherboard with new CPU, this is a very expensive upgrade.
