I am trying to upgrade the CPU in my HP DV6-2150US laptop (product number:WA779UA#ABA) from a Intel Core i3-330M processor to a I7-820QM (SLBLX) processor.  The HP service and maintenance guide

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01860375.pdf

(document part number 575976-001) on the support page for this laptop shows on page 4-42 that the i7-820-QM processor is an acceptable replacement part.   I  updated the BIOS to the most recent version and installed this processor  but when I started the laptop only the power button light blinked periodically and there was no screen activity or the sound of the hard drive.  After further research I noticed that in the above mentiond guide on page 4-37 it shows a part number of 574902-001 for the system board for this laptop.  However, the part number for the system board in my HP DV6-2150US laptop is 580978-001.   Is the 7-820QM (SLBLX) processor compatible with my system board?  If not what processors are compatible with my system board?

To answer you question: Dis you buy the RIGHT part ? From where ?

I bought the Core i7-820QM  processor online.  It works but not in the system board (part number 580978-00)  that is in my HP DV6-2150US laptop that is described on partssurfer as "System board (motherboard) - With HM55 chipset and 1GB memory (UMA)".

Can you tell me what processors can be used in this system board? I'm beginning to think only dual core processors.
