Example: Pavilion Laptop 15-dk1056wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an older HP envy 750 desktop with an Intel i7 6700.  Recently got a hp laptop, model number hp 15-dk1056wm with a i5 10300h.

While it is older, the i7 6700 seems to perform better than the newer i5.  I am wondering if if it might be possible to swap these two CPUs...

Would probably be good to start with asking if anyone knows how to find out what motherboard the 15-dk1056wm has and go from there.

Thanks.

Hi:

The processors on notebook motherboards are not removable.

The only way to upgrade the processor in your notebook would be to replace the motherboard.

HP does not have a service manual for your notebook's model series, so I don't know what other motherboards would have been available.

The service manual 15-dk1000 on the support page is for the older models with the 9th gen core processors.

If you were able to find the right motherboard for your notebook that has a better processor, the cost of the motherboard would probably cost more than you paid for your notebook.

Thanks for the reply.  I did not know that about laptop cpus not being removable.  There isn't that much of a problem with the i5 cpu, so its no problem leaving it the way it is.

Thanks again.

You're very welcome.

I believe that all notebook processors starting with the Intel 5th gen core models, from no matter who makes the notebook, the processors are all integral parts of the motherboard.
