My laptop will not detect the internal camera. I've checked privacy settings. I found there are no camera (or image) in my Device Manager. I feel like theres a driver i need to install/etc.

Hi @Jeffe6
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for laying that out so clearly—it’s definitely frustrating when your camera seems to vanish, especially on a newer system. Let’s get it back up and running with a few recommended steps.
Windows Update:
- Make sure your operating system is up to date as Windows Update often includes new drivers that could resolve hardware detection issues.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click on "Check for updates."
HP Support Assistant:
- Use HP Support Assistant to check for driver updates specific to your laptop model.
- Search for HP Support Assistant in the Start menu, open it, and check for updates related to the camera.
Device Manager - Scan for Hardware Changes:
- Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start Menu and selecting "Device Manager."
- In the Device Manager, click "Action" in the menu and select "Scan for hardware changes."
- This may help Windows detect any new hardware that is not currently recognizable.
Install Driver Manually:
- Visit the HP Support Website and enter your laptop's model (HP ENVY Laptop PC 17-cg1000).
- Look for drivers related to the camera and download the latest available.
BIOS Settings:
- Occasionally, hardware might be disabled in the BIOS. Restart your computer, press the necessary key to enter BIOS setup (usually F10 or Esc) and check if the camera is enabled.
System Restore:
- If the camera was working before, you can try using System Restore to revert your system back to a previous state where it was functioning.
- Search for "System Restore" in the Start menu, select it, and follow the prompts to restore the system.
Check for Physical Defects:
- Ensure that the camera is not obstructed or physically damaged.
