Is HyperX Impact compatible with this laptop, I want to upgrade the RAM as 6GB is not enough anymore...

HyperX HX316LS9IBK2/16 Impact 1600 MHz DDR3L CL9 SODIMM (Kit of 2) 1.35 V

This is what it says on their page: Chipsets Compatible with HM65, HM67, HM70, HM75, HM76, HM77, HM86, HM87, QM67, QM87, QS67, UM67 and UM77 Intel chipset

Thanks

You do not need special performace memory like HyperX. Get stock OEM DDR3L-1600 like Micron or Hynix. The HyperX might not work i.e. the laptop may refuse to boot when its installed and, at best it will downclock to less aggressive timings just like the stock stuff.

But they are the same price as Crucial (I just realised Crucial is a brand of Micron) or standard Kingston for example here in the UK at the moment. Micron is £25 for 4gb from what I can see.

And HyperX Impact I can get 2 x 8GB Kit for around £70

Samsung 16GB (2 x 8GB) 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3L-12800, 1600MHz ram memory module for laptops (M471B1G73EB0-YK0 x 2)

  • Module Size: 16GB kit (2 x 8GB)
  • Package: 204-pin SODIMM
  • Feature: DDR3 PC3L-12800
  • Specs: DDR3 PC3L-12800 , CL=11 , Unbuffered , NON-ECC , DDR3-1600 , 1.35V

You reckon this one is better?  🙂

Yes the system is set to run at CL=11 not CL=9 and every once in a while the HyperX does not work. The Samsung is a better choice even if the same price.

Thank you very much.

Thank you once again. I went for the Samsung 16GB pair and I swapped the HDD for a Samsung Evo SSD and now my notebook is extremely fast. 😎Thank you for your help. 👍
