Good question, when I've got my 840 G5 on Day 1. the first thing I was looking at was the SD/microSD card reader because all my HP manuals are on an SD card. I used to move the from one machine to other machine every year. Now I'm using an external USB card reader.
Unfortunately no SD card reader, same as my old Lenovo work machine. That is understandable because many organizations don't want to spend money for things they have to block.
I then looking for other option and guess what: the Elitebook 840 G5 series does not have dual storage options (at least on manual). Therefore, the short answer is: no, it does not have available parts for you to connect.
I will open my machine one day, probably after warranty (it has 3 years, and only 10 months old).
Regards.
