Hello, I purchased HP BS617TU laptop few months back. Initially boot speed and programs opening speed was good enough. But after using few month this laptop is slow and sluggish, after researching I come across conclusion that this problem can be solved by using an SSD as system drive.
So I decided to purchase WD 128GB SSD with M.2 connectors. Now I want to know does this laptop has ability to run this SSD as system drive? I also want to keep present hard disk as file storage only.

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
I have gone through your Post and would like to help
The HP Notebook - 15-bs617tu will support a 128GB SSD M.2 Hard drives.
You will need to reload the Windows and make the SSD Hard drive as your primary Hard drive with the Windows OS installed on it, then you will be able to use the original SATA Hard drive as Storage
If you feel your Notebook is too slow and sluggish, I suggest you run a Hard drive test to confirm the Hardware Functionality
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Hard drive
Hope this helps
Keep me posted if you need further assistance

Usually the Service Centers do not help with upgrades and they only replace faulty parts.
But since the Service Options Vary from Region to Region, I suggest you contact the Service Center and check.
