Can I charge my Elitebook 840 G6 with an Apple USB-C charger?

I am travelling with my laptop... and forgot my charger. I am in the middle of nowhere and stuck with the existing charge on my battery.

I do have with me my personal Apple MacBookPro, which has an USB-C charger - with the following specifications:

61W - Output: 20.3V/3A (USB PD) or 9V/3A (USB PD) or 5.2V/2.4A

Can I use it to charge my Elitebook 840 G6 through the USB-C/Thunderbolt port?

Your laptop is designed for a 20 volt USB-C charger and the Apple is 20.3 volts. Try plugging in the Apple charger and see if the light on the HP turns on indicating the battery is charging. If so I think it is safe to use the Apple charger to charge up the battery with the laptop off. I would not use the Apple charger to run the HP laptop when it is booted up. You probably would be OK, but I am not going to guarantee it. No damage will be done charging the battery while the laptop is off just a couple times until you can get the right adapter.

I used the power charger with the laptop powered down, and the battery charged over night. During the day I have to limit the laptop usage to a minimum, to be sure the charge runs for as much as possible.
