Can I charge my HP Pavilion 14-ce0035ur over USB-C?

I have HP Pavilion 14-ce0035ur laptop that has a USB-C port. Product spec says it supports "Power Delivery" but it's not clear whether the laptop can consume power or only charge other devices through this port.

I would love to be able to charge the laptop wia USB-C but before I buy the charging brick and cable I need to know if it supports it.

Important note. There is a good amount of mess on this support portal about USB-C charging capabilities with plenty of answers like "if it has USB-C it should charge via USB-C" and "most HP laptops support it". I don't need another comment like this. Unless you can absolutely guarantee that *this exact model* can be charged via USB-C, please keep yourself from giving advice. Thank you.

Yes, you can use a compatible USB-C charger rating from 45W up to charge your machine .

So I bought a pretty expensive 45W charging brick and a USB-C cable. It doesn't charge. That is why I was asking to reply to this thread only if you are absolutely sure that this particular model supports charging over USB-C.

I already updated BIOS and tried hard reset as some suggested on the internet. Are there any other possible solutions to this?

Sounds like they are not compatible. I don't have a charger now but I'm using an HP dock namely USB-C Gen 5, it charges my machine which has same specs for USB-C. The dock also charge my Dell Inspiron 13 7000, I'm using the dock for my HP Elitebook 840 G5 now.

What exactly do you mean by "compatible"? You posted the spec for the USB-C port of this laptop - from it, what would be a "compatible" charger in your opinion?

which says "Compatible with HP Pro X2 612 G2" that means other machines won't work.

First, the fact that it says it is compatible with that model doesn't say that it's not compatible with others.

Second, you can't require every producer of every charger in the world to list every single model of any laptop in history which is compatible with this particular charger. That is why in the laptop user manual, there is a specification of chargers that should be compatible with it.

Well, as you correctly said, the USB-C port supports Power Delivery. Also, I just found out the user guide says that the following kind of charging is supported among others:

"5Vdc @ 3A / 9Vdc @ 3A / 10Vdc @ 3.75A / 12Vdc @ 3.75A / 15Vdc @ 3A / 20Vdc @ 2.25A – 45 W USB-C"

The spec to my charger says that it can deliver 15Vdc @ 3A and 20Vdc @ 2.25A.  The USB-C cable supports 100W power delivery.

That clearly confirms that it is a problem in firmware and not in some "incompatibility". Now, would you please help me find the solution to the software problem?

Or, if you are unable to help me with it, could you please leave this thread without a reply so that somebody else could bring something productive to this conversation? The fact that you reply to every USB-C question on this forum in exactly the same wording doesn't help the community, you just close all the tickets with no added value.

In case anyone having the same problem I found a solution to this by using a USB-C to standard charger plug adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097PXBBBN

Works flawlessly and the battery level rises even under heavy load, so it seems to provide the same 45W.
