My Pavilion Gaming 15 has 2 fans. The CPU fan runs all the time and makes a rumbling noise. The GPU fan only spins during heavy gaming, and I won’t be gaming at office. So can I swap these two fans so the quiet GPU fan runs as the main fan temporarily until I buy a replacement? Or are they different sizes / non-interchangeable?

@haymas, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Can you swap the CPU and GPU fans?
Probably not. The CPU and GPU fans are usually different sizes, shapes, and have different connectors. They’re designed for different cooling needs, so swapping them might not work and could cause overheating.
What can you do instead?
Clean the Fans: Dust can make fans noisy, so clean them with compressed air.
Elevate the Laptop: Use a cooling pad or raise the laptop to improve airflow.
If the noise is still bad, the fan might be damaged, and you may need to replace it eventually.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
