Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to know if I can upgrade my HP 15-ba078dx with a 1 tb SSD from Crucial and DDR4 ram from crucial. I have read both manual and specs and I am just a little unclear if it will work on this laptop or not. I used the compatibility search engine on crucial and it says that the parts are compatible with my system but I just want to be sure. I'll leave the link to the parts and the manual and specs below. Thank you for your response and help.

Hi:

 

You can replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.

 

The Crucial SSD you picked out should work just fine.

 

Your notebook comes with DDR3L-1600 memory according to the specs.

So there is a disconnect.

 

I also believe that your notebook has DDR4 memory, and you should be able to buy the 16 GB memory kit you picked out as well.

 

Before buying the memory, run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below and it will tell you what speed the memory is...DDR3 or DDR4.

 

If, DDR4, the memory you chose should be fine.

 

If DDR3, let me know, and I will give you the link to the DDR3L Crucial memory.

Hello again. Thank you so much for your help. I ran the app and saw that I have DDR4 ram so I shall buy that ram. One note for people who choose to look at this for the future, download that application from the website https://www.hwinfo.com/download/ . It kept crashing on me when I tried running from the zip file but downloading directly from the site worked fine.

 

One last question, should I buy a battery replacement for the new parts or replace anything else or can I keep everything as is and just replace the memory and storage. Thank you again!

You're very welcome.

 

If the battery is lasting at least an hour, there should be no need to replace it.

 

The only other item you may want to replace would be to upgrade the single band wifi card to a dual band one with Bluetooth...

 

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

 

You can find this model on eBay, or Ali Express.  I see an Intel cards listed at the top of the eBay listings, so don't buy those.
