Hi everyone,
I own a hp pavilion dv6199 laptop (link)and It has 8gb Ram. I want to boost the speed of the laptop. because when I use Aftereffect it gets all of the memory and the fan start working loudly. so I start thinking to add two 8gb Ram (16GB) to the motherboard. The question is my laptop can be upgraded? Would the motherboard accept it? and will it change the speed?
Please let me know everything I have to know about Ram upgrading.
Best.

Hi,
Please read from page 66 of the manual. Machine uses DDR3 RAM. The following RAM from Crucial should work

● 4096-MB total system memory (2048×2)
● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1)
● 6144-MB total system memory (2048×1 + 4096×1)
● 8192-MB total system memory (4096×2)

Thanks.
the last questions, I saw many DDR3L in the link you provided.
Using DDR3L is it better than DDR3? or no difference in speed? or I have to use Just DDR3?
Also, I have seen different frequency on them like DDR3-1600 DDR3-1800 DDR3-2600mhz.
I wanna know if I use Ram with a frequency like 2600mhz the result would be better than 1600mhz Ram?
I'm not a gamer and just looking for Better ram in Rendering through After Effects/Photoshop.
