Can I upgrade my machine with dual rank 8gb ram having a single ranked 8gb onboard?

Hello people,

I mistakenly ordered a dual ranked 8gb memory module whilst having an 8gb Single ranked memory onboard.

All other specifications of both modules are same.

Kindly suggest if I can install it in my machine and use both the memory modules.

I understand you would like to know if you can upgrade the memory on your PC to 16GB.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

I have checked the specifications of your laptop and your laptop can support up to 16GB of memory.

The memory you are willing to replace is compatible. However, HP cannot guarantee the part will work as it is not an HP genuine part.

Also, Memory is a non-customer accessible/non-upgradeable part.

Note: Only if you have knowledge of the removal of computer parts you can try replacing the part by yourself or please take it to an HP authorized service centre and get it replaced. 

Also, while replacing the part if there is a damage on your PC it is not covered within regular warranty.

Two SODIMM memory module slots, non-customer-accessible/non-upgradable
Supports up to 16-GB of system memory
DDR4-2133 dual channel support (DDR4-2400 downgrade to DDR4-2133)

Memory modules (2, does not include memory shield):
8-MB, DDR4-2400, 1.2-V 820570-005
The memory module shield is available using spare part number 925378-001.
