HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0042ne
Hello everyone, I have a HP-Pavilion gaming 15-cx series (cx-0042ne), and recently been interested in upgrading the ram, since 8gb of ram isn't really cutting it for me anymore, I've been monitoring my memory usage and it goes to (7.98/8), anyway I've been eyeing some options for memory upgrading, I went to crucial website and did a scan, and they showed some options, anyways I did some more digging and found out that you can't just buy any ram and put it in.
So, I went to see what motherboard I have and CPU using a program called CPU-Z and found out that these are the specifications:
Motherboard:
BaseBoard Manufacturer HP
BaseBoard Product 8478
BaseBoard Version 70.60
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8300H CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.30 GHz
Current RAM:
2 slots of 4GB RAM
Speed: 2667 Manufacturer: SK Hynix Product number: HMA851S6JJR6N-VK
FORM FACTOR: SODIMM
So, using all of that information I decided to look for suitable ram and ended up finding this option here (Crucial RAM 16GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR4 2666 MHz CL19 Laptop Memory CT2K8G4SFRA266: Buy Online at Best Pri...), now all is good and dandy until I saw this in the manual
( Memory Two non-customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots)
and saw this also
( Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following conƭgurations ● 16384-MB total system memory (8192×2) ● 12288-MB total system memory (8192×1) + (4096×1) 1 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2) ● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1) )
So is it possible for me to upgrade the laptop ram? and is my option that I chose good?
Thanks in advance 😄
P.S.: I'm a bit tight on budget.

As long as the Crucial Memory modules are in the list at the Crucial web document at the link below, they are guaranteed to be compatible with your notebook.

I see the memory kit you asked about on the page so you have made a good choice. They are a viable option for your notebook.

Your research was great.

Hey Mr. Erico, if you don't mind me asking, the page shows a 3200 mhz, is that compatible with my laptop even though I have a 2666 mhz?

HP Recommended

Yes. It is compatible.

The new modules will downclock automatically on their own to acommodate the 2666 MHz memory bus bandwidth of your notebook's system board.
