HP Pavilion x360 - 14-ba153tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

By default the laptop comes with 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA SSHD. Can I add a SSD and run in dual storage? If yes, which type ( NVMe M.2 SSD or M.2 SATA SSD)?

I found non-conclusive info while seraching the internet, and was also unable to figure out the same after going throught the service manual. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

Most likely the slot is present as Crucial which guarantees its upgrades lists M2 SSDs for your device:

However as @banhien says, you should check before buying the actual drive to make sure the slot is present omn motherboard, as sometimes HP notebooks that did not come with M2 SSD are missing the physical slot.

Your PC is not the easiest to upgrade (or check for M2 slot) as you need to remove the motherboard and turn it around to get to the RAM slots and M2 slot. You can follow the steps on page 58-59 of service manual to get to the slot.

M2 slotM2 slotIf the slot is present you can install an M2 SATA3 SSD such as the Samsung M2 860evo or similar. If not, you can always replace the hard drive with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD.

@Rudh1

Your machine is with Single HDD storage configuration therefore the chance to have M.2 slot is 50/50. No one can answer your question until physically open the case. For machines of the series with M.2 SSD or dual storage configuration the M,2 slot uses SATA 3 SSD.
