Pavilion G6 1390sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

I recently began tinkering with my very old, super slow g6 1390sa and was wondering whether I could put a I7 2960XM in it. The product manual does not list that processor, but perhaps it may still work?

I haven't been able to identify the chipset of the machine but according to cpu-upgrade.com it is one of

Intel HM65 Express Intel QM67 Express Intel HM67 Express Intel QS67 Express

The same website lists compatible chipsets for the I7 2960XM as

Intel HM67 Express Intel QM67 Express

Does anyone know what chipset the G6 1390sa runs and whether I can put the I7 2960XM in it? I know the TDP is way higher but I'm not really bothered by the fan being way noisy.

Thank you

Nigel
