I broke my original charger which charges at 65w. So I'm planning to buy a new one that is 60w. Will that work on my laptop or will my laptop explode?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the AC Adapter query.
For best performance, use only the AC power adapter that came with your HP notebook computer and configure your power management settings for optimal performance based on your usage habits.
If you use a power adapter that has a lower wattage than your notebook requires, there might be some trade-offs. The CPU clock rate might be reduced to save power, which can cause programs to run slower, the battery might charge more slowly or not at all, or the power adapter itself might become warm to the touch.
You might get a message indicating AC adapter is providing enough power to use your computer, but not enough power to deliver expected performance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

You may order the replacement parts on the HP Parts Store, use the HP Parts Surfer to find the part number and If you've already looked for it and couldn't find it on the HP Parts Store, you may want to get it locally at the online store such as Amazon or eBay, etc...as the part numbers are universal.
Alternatively, I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started: Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/
