Hello,

I'm interested in an Acer Docking Station,14-in-1 Triple Display USB C Docking Station.  Is this compatible with the USB-C port on my laptop?

Thanks

Brent

No. The USB-C port on your laptop is data only. The only way to have a docking station attached to the USB-C that will provide video output is if the dock supports DisplayLink. The Acer dock you reference does not support DisplayLink and requires an Alt-DP capable USB-C port which yours is not:

Thanks very much for your time.

Would something like this work using DisplayLink? https://a.co/d/b8H4zf6?

Yes. I question how good the video will be with triple Displaylink connected monitors, however. That technology just can't provide anywhere close to the bandwidth of Alt-DP or Thunderbolt video.  Maybe OK for email and spreadsheets and such but any kind of moving image is likely going to stutter and smear on at least one of the monitors.

Okay, good to know.  Sounds like another direction is best.

Thanks again - much appreciated!
