HP Pavilion 14-ce3040ng 2019
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey guys

My notebook (HP Pavilion 14-ce3040ng 2019, germany) has this RAM installed:

Samsung M471A2K43CB1-CTD 16GB PC4 DDR4-2666mHz Single SO-DIMM

I want to upgrade it with this RAM

G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB PC4  DDR4-3200mHz CL18 Single SO-DIMM

The Intel website claims that the new CPU i7 1065G7 supports DDR4-3200.

Is that possible?

Thanks in advance!

Hi:

Below is the link to the Crucial memory report for your model.

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-14-ce3040ng

They do offer a 3200 MHz chip for your model, so the memory will most likely run at 3200 MHz, but not with the 2666 MHz memory chip that is already in there now.

If you had 2 3200 MHz memory chips in there, I would see no reason why the processor would not run the memory at the full 3200 Mhz.

Intel, as you stated, shows the processor takes 3200 MHz memory.

My notebook supports only single channel RAM, it has only 1 Slot, I would simply replace it with new 3200 model.

So I can do that without problems right?

Or would you recommend a lower MHz-rate and therefore lower latency? I would like to have dual channel but my notebook doesnt support it.

HP Recommended

Yep.

You're right...only one memory slot in that model series, so only single channel.

I would probably opt to replace it with the 3200 MHz chip.

The memory will not cause a bottleneck, and unlock the processor's full potential.

I have installed the new RAM but windows only uses 2400MHz instead of 3200MHz. How.can I fix this?

HP Recommended

Unfortunately, that I would not know.

The Intel specs state the processor can support 3200 MHz speeds, so there must be some kind of  restriction in the BIOS.

I went into the advanced bios settings and changed the maximum memory frequency to 3200 but in windows it still limits to 2400
