Can Presario C700 hold 3GB+ of RAM

So I have a Presario C700 with 3GB of RAM. I achieve this by placing the 1GB RAM on the lower slot. However I am more interested in upgrading RAM because 3GB is not gonna boot Chrome up. So can I replace the 2GB on upper slot and replace it with a 4GB? Please ignore any grammatical errors, thanks.

According to chapter 1 of the manual, the max memory is only 2 x 1 GB.

Since you already have 3 GB installed, it may be possible that you can remove the 1 GB chip and install a 2 GB chip.

On some of those older models even when you install 4 GB, only 3 GB shows up as usable.

Well I tried and when booting up, the BIOS say 4GB of RAM, it passed memory test but it can’t boot into OS. Windows would just be stuck in Automatic Repair mode.

Then you have your answer.

3 GB was OK even though it exceeded the manual's 2 GB limit, but 4 GB is out of the question.

There have been members who have asked about upgrades to the Presario C700 over the years.

There is nothing official that says that installing more than 2 GB will be a successful upgrade,

however there have been members who have reported success with 6 GB,
