Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am planning to buy Surface USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter for my Pavilion Ultrabook 14-b008sa. I have a question of if I buy this product, will the transfer speed support 1GbpE over USB 3.0 even if the inbuilt hardware of LAN port only supports 100 Mbps of the transfer speed.

Yes. I don't use Surface product but using the following adapters for my machines

     https://www.amazon.com.au/Anker-Aluminum-Portable-Gigabit-Ethernet/dp/B00PC07T02  (a)

    https://www.startech.com/en-au/networking-io/us1gc303apd            (b)

  • (a) For my old machines which ONLY have 10/100 RJ45 port
  • (b) For my new machines which do not have RJ45 port

In your case, (b) won't work it is not suitable.

Note: My adapters above are for REAL life examples, you can buy different brands

Regards.
