I have Hp Pavilon dv5 with following configuration:

CPU: Intel Core 2Duo T5800 @2Gz

Intel 45 Express Chipset

Can i replace existing CPU Intel Core 2Duo T5800 with Intel Core i5 3230m ?

It is not possible to upgrade to a more modern Inte Core processor (i3,i5,i7). You could upgrade to these processors:

Intel Core™2 Duo T9600 2.80-GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz front side bus (FSB)

Intel Core2 Duo T9400 2.53-GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz FSB

Intel Core Duo T8600 2.40-GHz with 3-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz FSB

Intel Core Duo T8400 2.26-GHz with 3-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz FSB
