Is it possible to upgrade the laptop to 8Gig, at the moment it has 4Gig and only with one slot.

Hi, Rab:

 

Yes, you can remove the 4 GB chip and replace it with an 8 GB chip.

 

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the memory upgrade info.

I have noticed when viewing Ram from Crucial it says 

Compatible Memory for

HP - Compaq HP 15-r123na i am not to sure this is the same model as 

HP-Compaq HP 15 -K3G02EA#ABU

Yes, your PC would support a 2.5" SSD up to 2 TB.

 

If you look at that crucial report, they have a list of compatible SSD's for your model.
