@Pentium4Guy

Your Maintenance Manual gives possible cpu upgrades. Intel® Core® i5-2450M  seems to be max:

The i5 2540m will not work as it uses the HM65 chipset. Your model (i3 370m) uses the HM55 CHIPSET which has a huge list of compatible cpu ( here's that list https://ark.intel.com/products/43183/Mobile-Intel-HM55-Express-Chipset ) but that list gets dwindled down due to wattage and socket type. Your i3 370m socket type is the PPG988. The i3 370m max compatibility upgrade is the i5 580m, however the i7 640m may work as well. I say may work because I haven't confirmed it yet and may depend on your particular bios. I know all this because I did the research for my HP 630 i3 380m which uses the same chipset as the i3 370. I'll update this as I am about to order the i7 640m.

Funny thing is I ordered the i5 2540m but requested a refund after some research. Hope this helps.
