Hi all and a very good evening,
i have a hp 240 g8 pc product number 2R9G4EA#ABZ, My SSD HD has stopped working and I get the code Hard disk 3F0 Hard disk not found. After some research and call with the support team I have learned that i have to replace my SSD, My question is since I am going to replace the ssd can I upgrade this SSD from 256 m.2 2280 to 512 m.2 2280 pcle nvme ? Can i use any other brand or do I have to buy from the HP spare store. If I can upgrade could i also know the Model number of the SSD. My current SSD model number is L85354-005. Thanking all who will help in advance and happy holidays.

Hi:
You should be fine with doing that.
Below is the link to the service manual.
Maintenance and Service Guide (manualslib.com)
Chapter 1, page 2 indicates that HP offered NVMe SSD's up to 1 TB in the model series.
You can google the model number of the SSD HP installed, since HP uses different manufacturers of SSD and assigns the same part numbers to them.
It should be listed in the device manager under the Disk drives device manager category.
I'd go with a Samsung 980 model as a replacement.

HI ! paul, I am sorry to disturb you like this. When you have time please can you reply. I cannot find the one you suggested in my country of residence as it is out of stock but this one is available. Samed brand and type but 7000 rpm / pro / pcle 4.0
Cost almost the same. 89 euro 1 day delivery. What are thoughts about this ? putting higher specs ssd can harm the board or the PC. I am sorry i dont know much about the tech part.
Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD (MZ-V8P1T0BW), 1 TB, PCIe 4.0, 7,000 MB/s Read, 5,000 MB/s Write, Internal Solid State Drive.

Hi:
You are free to ask me as many questions as you like. No need to apologize.
Yes, that drive will also work fine but it will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from your notebook's PCIe 3.0 NVMe slot.
No harm will come to your notebook by installing that model drive.
Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul, thank you for your assistance. I was able to find the 3.0 pcie samsung as you had suggested before. Upgraded the notebook. reinstalled windows. Everything is back to normal.
I would like to post a link here for those who will need it in the future, windows recovery. Maybe youll will find it easily.
