I purchased an 8 Gb memory card to upgrade my HP 15-f1233wm from 4 to 8 Gb. I am as certain as I can be that I have the correct chip. See provided link.
The replacement was simple.. open door on back.. remove existing card, insert new card.. close door but laptop does not boot up. I can see the light on the keyboard that lites up when I do start it up.. but the screen never even gets light.
Am I missing a step? I thought the card was a DOA so I bought another one and it doesn't get it to start either.
What now? I know the laptop is supposed to be compatible to 8 Gb... It is running a celeron CPU.
thanks

Your laptop has a Celeron processor and the Braswell chipset.
The manual states it only supports a maximum of 4GB.

Honestly, upgrading the memory is not going to give you any appreciable performance increase.

That's funny because everywhere I looked when I bought it and even now indicates it is upgradable to 8 Gb. Here's a similar post by another so called "HP Expert" confirming exactly the opposite.

If you read through the latest post in the thread you provided a link to you will see that there was no success with a few owners in trying to upgrade to 8 GB.
