Omen 15-dc0508na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hi all,

Sorry if this is the wrong topic, I wasn’t sure where to put this.
I’ve been trying to take off the back cover of my omen 15-dc0508na laptop, but after removing all the screws the cover still seems to be strongly fixed and it seems it’s almost impossible to remove the cover without damaging the laptop. What is the best way to remove the cover?

Also related, I want to remove the battery and use the laptop completely by ac power from the charger cable to preserve the battery as I don’t plan on unplugging the laptop for a week+, is this viable with this laptop?

Thank you!

As shown in the Manual @Maké posted there are some special clips to remove the back cover. In this case removing the back cover is actually an authorized customer procedure so be careful but warranty cannot be taken away just because you do this.

Don't remove the battery. For one, removing it does not extend its life by enough to get excited about, if at all. People get very concerned about their batteries and I guss I understand that, but truth be told, use it the way it is designed, don't discharge below 20%, use AC power when available and the battery only when you must and it will be fine.

Secondly, on models that have an internal battery in most cases that battery is also the RTC/BIOS/CMOS battery and you do not want to run a computer without one. If you turn it off even if you leave the AC adapter plugged in, you can lose the time and the BIOS settings. And the battery connections are a bit fragile. Removing the battery injects a level of damage risk and electrical accident risk there is no need to run until you really need to replace the battery.

Hi!, Ross_ :

Remove with very carefully. See, from page 36, Chapter 5, from ... http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06034959

Note : If you damage any components and your notebook have warranty you lose this warranty.

Better if you contact with HP Technical Service.

Kind Regards !.
Have a nice day !.
