Hi:

Yes, you can upgrade the memory, but HP only has the service manual for the older 15-dw0xxx model series on the support page.

HP Laptop PC 15-dw3000 (1A3Y1AV) Manuals | HP® Customer Support

If the notebook has an Intel core processor, it has two memory slots.

You can do this to see how much memory your notebook can support.

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Make sure that you buy the right speed memory because the memory listed in the service manual is for the older processors than what your notebook comes with.

  1. Click on the search icon.
  2. Type Command Prompt, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option.
  3. Type wmic memorychip get devicelocator, manufacturer, partnumber, serialnumber, capacity, speed, memorytype, formfactor

That will give you the part number and speed of the installed memory.
