Hello everyone, this is my first post as I try to get through my pc problems either via learning through forums like this or my tech support friends but here is a short summary

I happened to come into a free HP 2000-2c22DX and decided I was going to upgrade the ram to 8gb (the max it supports is 8 as it comes with only a single 4gb stick), so I bought 2 crucial brand DDR3 ram sticks at 4gb each (figured you'd always want to keep the ram consistent) and I took out the hdd and am going to replace it with an ssd soon (so there is no drive in the computer rn) upon attempting to boot it with the new ram the wifi light comes on solid, and the caps lock button flashes 3 times (from my research that is a memory error) so I decided to swap the new ram out and try it again with the single stick, same issue, I am wondering I accidentally some how screwed up all the ram or if there is something here I am missing

As you probably know, RAM sticks come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are keyed so that you can't put the wrong kind of RAM stick into a slot. I have upgraded RAM more times than I care to count, and while like you, that has not always worked, it never caused any damage -- as the PCs already rebooted and ran OK with the original RAM back in place.

If you can get it to boot, press F2 repeatedly to bring up the Diagnostics page and run them.

I've tried resetting the original ram and it's giving me the same error code, could it be that it doesn't have any storage in it?

What do you mean regarding the amount of storage?

As in there is no storage in it at the moment

Sorry, still don't understand what you mean. You mean the laptop currently does not have any RAM sticks in it?  Those aren't related to storage in any way, as storage only relates to internal disk drives -- HDDs or SDDs.

Sorry, I'm saying it doesn't have any SSD or HDD in it at the moment, I wasn't sure if that would auto trigger an error code as even when I reseated the original ram, I got the Sam caps lock blinking error code

Sorry for some bad news, but I think the error code for the RAM sticks can also be caused by a bad memory controller -- and that is a chip soldered to the motherboard, and it can't be replaced.

One thing you can do now is take this to a local repair shop and see if they can do anything for you as replacing a motherboard on a laptop, even if a new motherboard can be found, usually costs a lot more than simply replacing the laptop.
