--> DDU

--> Bcdedit /set pciexpress forcedisable

--> Essayer d'installer les pilotes de la carte graphique (Nvidia n'a pas détecté les pilotes Nvidia)

--> Essayer de détecter ma CG avec une Install Linux (spoiler, ça marche pas)

--> J'ai fait la Détection avec HP Tool dans le bios pour voir si j'ai ma CG mais rien

--> J'ai chercher sur le Centre HP et j'ai rien trouver me correspondant

--> Rien dans le gestionnaire de périphérique

--> GPU-Z me la  détecte pas

Hello everyone,

After applying thermal paste, I discovered that my graphics card is no longer detected, neither in the BIOS nor in Windows.

Worried about what's happening, I asked some computer-savvy friends for help, and they told me the graphics card is probably faulty, but I'd rather turn to you since it's HP hardware.

Although I think this is a lost cause, and my friends might tell me to give up, I really need some help.

I have a Victus 16 with a Ryzen 5 processor and an Nvidia 3050Ti GPU.

I've run all the following diagnostics:

--> DDU

--> BcDedit /set pciexpress forcedisable

--> Tried installing the graphics card drivers (Nvidia didn't detect the Nvidia drivers)

--> Tried detecting my graphics card with a Linux installer (spoiler alert, it didn't work)

--> I ran the detection with HP Tool in the BIOS to see if my graphics card was present, but nothing was found.

--> I searched on the HP Support website and found nothing relevant.

--> Nothing in Device Manager.

--> GPU-Z doesn't detect it.

And possibly many other things that I've tried following forums, but I haven't found anything else.

I'm turning to you for help before I agree with my friends and accept the inevitable conclusion that my graphics card is truly dead.

Thank you in advance for your time 🙂

Hi @ChipsAero

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for laying out everything so clearly—you’ve done a thorough job, and I can feel how much this matters to you. It’s incredibly frustrating when a GPU vanishes after something as routine as a thermal paste application, especially on a system like your Victus 16 with a Ryzen 5 and RTX 3050 Ti.

Let’s walk through a few final, focused steps to rule out recoverable causes before considering hardware failure:

1. Power Drain and CMOS Reset (again, but deeper)

Even if you've done a basic reset, try this full discharge:

  • Power off and unplug the laptop
  • Hold the power button for 30 seconds
  • Leave it unplugged for 10 minutes
  • Plug in the charger only (no battery if removable) and power on

This can clear latent EC/BIOS states that sometimes block GPU initialization.

2. BIOS Reset via Recovery Key Combo

If the GPU isn’t showing in BIOS, try forcing a BIOS recovery:

  • With the laptop off, hold Win + B, then press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds
  • Release the power button but keep holding Win + B for 10–15 seconds
  • If successful, the system will beep or flash the screen and attempt BIOS recovery

This can reinitialize hardware detection at a low level.

3. Recover BIOS from HP

Even if you’re on the latest version, a reflash can help:

4. Inspect the GPU physically (if accessible)

If you applied thermal paste yourself, and the GPU is on a separate board (rare in laptops but possible in some configurations), check:

  • Is the heatsink seated properly?
  • Are all thermal pads and screws in place?
  • Any signs of damage or residue on the board?

If the GPU is soldered (most likely), visual inspection is limited—but worth checking for loose connectors or flex cable misalignment if the board was moved.

5. Final software check: Windows Event Viewer

  • Open Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System
  • Look for any ACPI, PCI, or Kernel-PnP errors around boot time
  • These can hint at hardware initialization failures

If after all this the GPU still doesn’t appear in BIOS or any OS, and the HP UEFI diagnostics can’t detect it either, then unfortunately your friends may be right—it’s likely a hardware-level failure, possibly due to static discharge, board flex, or a short during the repaste.

But you’ve done everything right, and I admire your persistence.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
