Thanks for the quick reply.  After looking at my new laptop, I was suprised to see no battery on back.  You confirmed my suspicion that the battery was not designed for easy in and out.

You will need to remove the base of the notebook to replace the battery

 

Remove the optical drive first, remove the remaining screws on the base and with a spudger tool seperate the base from the notebook. Once that is done, you will be able to access and replace the battery with a new one.
