- It looks almost like the fans are soldered to the heat pipe. Fan will not come out directly. I don't want to take everything apart if not necessary. What do you guys say?
- This is a Omen 15-dh1054nr
- Thanks

Hi @Carl_CMA,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding replacing the CPU cooling fan on the HP OMEN 15-dh1054nr!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Preparation:
- Ensure the laptop is powered off and unplugged from any power source.
- Remove all removable peripherals and cables.
Accessing the Interior:
- You will generally need to remove the bottom cover to access internal components. This often involves unscrewing and carefully prying open the cover using a plastic tool to avoid damage.
Disassembling the Cooling System:
- The cooling system of the HP OMEN 15 might involve a heatsink and fan assembly that needs to be detached entirely. This is because the fan might be mounted underneath or in close relation to other components like the heat pipe.
- Remove any screws securing the fan and heatsink assembly. Pay attention to how the thermal paste or pads are applied as you will want to replicate this during reassembly.
Replacing the Fan:
- Carefully disconnect the fan wire from the motherboard.
- You may need to unscrew or unclip the fan from the heatsink or adjacent structures.
- Replace the fan with the new one, ensuring it fits correctly and is secured in place.
Reassembly:
- Reattach the cooling system, taking care to reapply thermal paste or thermal pads if necessary to maintain effective cooling performance.
- Ensure all screws and connectors are securely fastened and reassemble the laptop.
Testing:
- Before fully completing the reassembly, consider testing by powering on the laptop briefly to check that the fan operates correctly.
I hope this helps.
