Hey everyone.
My machine is an HP Pavilion dv6-7056er.
The machine works fine on battery, but when I plug in the charger, the charger disconnects/turns off, I have to unplug it from the power outlet, and plug it back in in order to get it working.
If I remove the battery, the laptop works fine on charger power, AND, if I plug in the charger first, then the battery, then it charges, but very slowly.
So to recap:
Battery first, then charger = charger stops working.
Charger first, then battery = all is well but charges slowly.
Please help, thanks.

Hi @Jarrarinc,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having issues with your notebook not working properly. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
Splendid effort, commendable troubleshooting and superb description of the issue. Kudos to you on that score.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Was there any update/reset interrupted recently?
Did this happen after an recent update or upgrade?
Have you tried to install the battery drivers from Device manager?
Have you tried to update the drivers either using Windows update or using HP Support Assistant?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.
Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.
Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.
Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,
Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.
Also, Go through them all and let me know what you have determined is causing the issue. The first document has the most relevant troubleshooting if your battery appears to be not charging.
I would suggest please update the Bios, and Chipset drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link.
Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.
Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.
Next thing, I would suggest here is to run the test on the battery from F2.(Click on Component test - Scroll down to Power)
Please remember to capture the failure ID for further assistance.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Jeet_Singh,
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate the effort.
I have tried all the solution you so kindly suggested, and exhausted all other possibilities as well; which leads me to believe that this is a hardware failure.
My machine is out of warranty, so if you could assist by poiting me to the repair/maintenance avenue, I would really apprciate it.
One again, thank you very much for taking the time, that's thumbs up as far as I'm concerned.

Hello everyone, old subject, new update!
Just noticed that my Intel(R) Management Engine Interface driver keeps malfunctioning as well! tried to reinstall, update, and every other thing I could think of!
Do you think the two are related? And if so, any suggestions?
Thanks!
