HP ZBook 17 G3 IDS Base Model Mobile Workstation

Hi,

I have an old HP ZBook 17 G3 IDS Base Model Mobile Workstation bought in 2017, I am trying to find if it can be charged through the thunderbolt port (Type C port), if yes what would be the charger capacity, would any PD charger suffice?

Thank you

Whether or not your workstation will charge via the Type-C Thunderbolt port is a maybe.

That is what HP's subject matter experts have told us.

The OEM power adapter is a 200 Watt unit.

You would likely need a pretty beastie USB Type-C power adapter to match that.

I  would think that at least a 150 Watt unit would be needed.

The only way to know for sure that it will charge is to try it and the risk involved is what you would have to accept.
