HP notebook 15-ay011nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The charging port on the HP notebook 15-ay011nr appears to have dislodged.  Trying to determin if this port is directly soldered to the mother board or if it is a replacable part that simply connects to it?

If you perform a search with the part number online you should be able to find the part you need.

Example:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/HP-813945-011-DC-Jack-Power-Port-Socket-W-Cable-Connector-Harness/190033974...

Anyway, you can take a look and see if the cable has come loose. Naturally, the port itself could have become defective.

Hi,

It is a replaceable part with part number 813945-011

If it has become dislodged it does not necessarily mean that it needs replacing. It could be that the plastics tabs which hold it have broken or bent.

On page 84 of the service manual you can see how it is placed. If plstic parts of the case have broken you can try using stron epoxy cement for plastic or some other little invention to keep it in place.

Hope it helps,

Well, it is loose.  The center part of the port is flush to the edge and most importantly it wont charge the battery.  Now we swapped the battery out into another HP notebook 15-ay011nr and it charges so not the battery.

I am guessing the port either came unconnected to needs to be replaced.
