I have an HP Spectrum 360 Convertible 13t-aw000, product number 6YG70AV. About a year ago, the upper right charging port quit working. The port on the side below that still works, but only if the cord is * just so ,* and I'm afraid it will quit completely. It will not charge with any charger other than the one it came with (i.e., though my phone charger fits, it will not charge my laptop). Question: can I replace the charging ports? I understand this has been an issue with these HP Spectre laptops (shame on you, HP), and I don't want my laptop to quit charging entirely--it is my sole computer, and I do all my business on it.

Hi @kl_wyoming,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that this is a Hardware issue. However, the support here is limited to software troubleshooting. Since the unit might need repair, I would request you to contact HP Phone support who can schedule a repair as per the warranty and the issue can be fixed.
For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.
Please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I had the same issue. My HP Spectre x360 Convertible was just over two years old and both charging ports eventually stopped recognizing the charger. I've been in the midst of trying to finish my PhD thesis so I was hoping it would hold out at least until I submitted, but, it didn't. The computer won't turn on now and I brought it to GeekSquad and now they're saying the hard drive (that I asked them to transfer into a new computer) is no longer accessible. And just like that, within a night I lost everything, any file that I didn't back up to the cloud is gone.... I've had multiple breakdowns and panic attacks. I'm now debating paying a crazy amount of money to send my hard drive out to experts in a last-ditch attempt to retrieve my data.

Mine is doing the same thing! I had to stop using the slot on the top right corner to charge. I switched to the right side slot to plug the charger in, but the screen is stil flickering if the plug isn't in it just right. Even with plenty of battery life.

Thank you. I got the private e-mail, which had a phone number, which is invalid. I've tried it many times over the past months, but it is invalid. There is no other way to reach HP than this forum as far as I know.

Yep, sadly I've come to the same conclusion about HP. I will never buy another HP again. I lost ALL of my data when both battery ports stopped working!! Best buy told me it was because of a volatile kind of hard drive that HP used for my particular laptop model. The only way to retrieve any data from my hard drive that became "compromised" after the charging ports stopped working, was to pay Best Buy $1500 to do data recovery. And that was the lowest quote I got for the recovery fee anywhere. I am beyond disgusted.

Just fyi, SAVE YOUR DATA TO AN EXTERNAL SOURCE BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!! Once both charging ports finally stopped working for me completely, for whatever stupid/infuriating reason, MY HARDDRIVE WENT TOO! The cheapest quote I got to do data recovery was $1500!!!!!!!!!

I totally understand your frustration. My husband and I are in total agreement with you as far as we will never buy HP laptops again! We also won't buy HP printers--which also caused us fits. I am so sorry you lost so much data and had a costly recovery. I appreciate the reminder to back up my data. I have been doing so since the charging port started to get even wonkier, but it has been too long since my last backup. I'll do it tonight!
If you found a different laptop/notebook you really like what has a good, big screen, would you mind sharing that info, if HP allows you to do so?
Thanks, and all the best in your future!
