Hi.

I bought a chromebook 15.6 turns out the usb-c ports can't send video graphics to external display. Before I fork out for a usb 3.0 hub,  has anyone had success in getting an external monitor to the chromebook via usb 3.0?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

You can connect your Chromebook to a monitor or TV with an HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, or VGA port.

Sometimes you need an adapter cable to do this. To learn what type of cable you need, check the instructions included with your Chromebook.

  1. Find the display output and input ports on your Chromebook. (If you’re not sure which ports to use, check the instructions included with your Chromebook.)
  2. Use these two ports to find the correct adapter (ex. DisplayPort to HDMI).
  3. Plug the adapter into the monitor, then into your Chromebook.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

No this doesn't help, as my usb c ports are not thunderbolt and the person I spoke to on the phone (hp adviser) said that the usb 3.0 wouldn't work. Also the chromebook can't add an external display wirelessly which makes the product a heap of junk, as a can't do what I need to, which is to send an external display.
