Product: HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0140tx
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

So, my Laptop is:

HP Pavillion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0140TX

1TB HDD,

8GB RAM,

*no SSD,

core i5 8th gen,

GTX 1050 4GB graphics card

 

I am planning to add an SSD. So my question is regarding SSD compatibility.

Is my laptop compatible with this SSD: 

Samsung 980 NVMe M.2 SSD

https://semiconductor.samsung.com/consumer-storage/internal-ssd/980/

 

If this is not compatible...then what other SSD's can I use?

According to chapter 1 of the service manual, your notebook's M.2 slot supports NVMe SSD's, so the Samsung 980 should work just fine.

PCIe = NVMe.
